The York Symphony Orchestra (YSO) seeks an Executive Director to serve in a critical leadership role as its chief executive, advancing the mission and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization. Working in close partnership with the Board of Directors and Music Director, the Executive Director will develop and execute the organization's strategic plan, which includes setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the YSO’s mission, vision, and values. The Executive Director will assume a broad range of responsibilities, from overseeing the creation and management of high-quality programs and services, to fostering strong relationships with donors, stakeholders, and the greater York community. The Executive Director will serve as the primary spokesperson for the YSO, advocate for its mission, and lead efforts to raise essential funds from diverse sources. Additionally, the Executive Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the YSO, including financial sustainability, governance, and community engagement, all while ensuring a dynamic and supportive environment for the staff, musicians, and Board. By nurturing a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration, the Executive Director will continue to strengthen the YSO’s position as a cornerstone of the cultural life in the greater York area.
Since 1933, the York Symphony Orchestra has provided world-class entertainment at affordable prices to audiences in the region and beyond. Located in York, Pennsylvania, the York Symphony Orchestra loves its city and believes that music helps build a stronger, more vibrant York, as only music can. The York Symphony Orchestra, led by renowned conductor Lawrence Golan, provides musical experiences for every taste. It provides a wide variety of diverse live orchestral music and music education to the people of the region with a commitment to excellence. The power of live orchestral music goes beyond lifting spirits and healing hearts. Music has the power to bring people together, unlike anything else. The York Symphony Orchestra has performed without interruption since the Depression, through World War II, and continues today. The York Symphony Orchestra is comprised of 76 professional musicians. The York Symphony Chorus, which was formed in the 1950s, is made up of 100 volunteer vocalists. Each season features six Classical Series concerts, three Pops Series concerts, and two Young Person Concerts performing a broad repertoire of classical and contemporary music.
