Chief Philanthropy Officer
Houston Grand Opera - Houston, TX
Houston Grand Opera seeks a Chief Philanthropy Officer to serve as a visionary leader and strategic partner to the General Director and CEO, the Executive Leadership Group, and the Board of Directors, responsible for shaping and driving a best-in-class fundraising and philanthropic partnership program. As a key partner to a General Director who loves fundraising and is deeply committed to building long-term, mutually beneficial philanthropic partnerships, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will define and implement a forward-thinking fundraising strategy, steward a personal portfolio of major donors, and cultivate a culture of philanthropy across all levels of the organization. The Chief Philanthropy Officer will ensure the alignment of contributed revenue goals with HGO’s artistic and operational priorities. In collaboration with a deeply dedicated and experienced team, and through innovative campaigns, strategic partnerships, and data-informed insights, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will drive growth in individual, corporate, foundation, and government support, while also playing a key role in the success of Houston Grand Opera’s upcoming campaign. As a champion for cross-departmental collaboration and organizational development, the Chief Philanthropy Officer will recruit, retain, and inspire high-performing team members and build upon the strong internal and external relationships that power HGO’s bold vision for the future.
Houston Grand Opera (HGO) enriches its diverse community through the art of opera by creating, curating, exploring, and producing outstanding experiences centered around the human voice. Houston Grand Opera is committed to the future of opera through initiatives that engage new audiences and give artists a stage for their voices to be heard. Through this commitment, HGO has had the honor of commissioning 78 world premieres—both mainstage grand operas and smaller-scale works— as well as hosting the American premieres of several major operas, paving the way for new eras of the art form in all genres, time periods, and languages.
"I'm seeking a Chief Philanthropy Officer who shares our belief that opera's greatest chapters lie ahead, not behind us. Someone who sees Houston's extraordinary growth, diversity, and philanthropic spirit as fertile ground for something unprecedented. Together, we'll cultivate transformative relationships, develop bold strategies, and share accountability for this campaign's success—with my full commitment to being an engaged partner in every aspect of the fundraising process. You’ll be leading a strong, nimble, data-driven, and growing team of development colleagues ready to execute at the highest level. You'll help us prove that bold artistic programming and sound financial stewardship can create a model worth celebrating—and perhaps worth replicating. "— Khori Dastoor, General Director and CEO
