Major Gifts Officer

The Lab School of Washington - Washington, DC
The Lab School of Washington seeks a Major Gifts Officer who will grow the school’s philanthropic support through strategic engagement of leadership and major donors. The MGO will manage a portfolio of 60 –100 donors and prospects, capable of contributing $10,000 and above annually, and play a key role customizing and growing Lab’s major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaign efforts. This is a highly relational role that blends frontline fundraising with strategy, analysis, and donor stewardship in support of Lab’s mission.

At The Lab School of Washington, students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD, feel at home. They are given the support and scaffolding to embrace how they learn and to use it to their advantage. The result? A student body that thrives. Their curriculum is intentionally different and is designed to support individual learners where they are, always with an eye of where they are headed. At Lab, they cultivate proficient learners across all subject areas by tailoring their instruction and by building the confidence of their students. After all, here at Lab they embrace differences as advantages, not deficits. Their innovative approach to education does more than impart knowledge: the focus on problem-solving allows students to blossom in other areas of their lives. Their project-based educational model focuses on developing strong habits of mind, executive functioning skills, and self-advocacy in order to develop confident, capable learners.

"As the Major Gifts Officer, you’ll have the rare opportunity to shape the future of an institution that has shaped countless lives. This is not just a fundraising role — it’s a chance to build relationships that unlock transformative philanthropy, ensuring Lab’s sustainability and its ability to innovate for the next generation of learners. You’ll work directly with the Chief Advancement Officer, the Head of School, and other leaders to cultivate partnerships with donors whose generosity will define Lab’s next era. If you are a relationship builder, storyteller, and strategist who is inspired by mission-driven work and motivated by the power of education to change lives, there is no better time to join The Lab School of Washington." — Althea Wilson, Chief Advancement Officer
