General Counsel

Indivisible
The General Counsel of Indivisible sits on the Executive Operating Team and is the principal legal advisor to the organization, providing strategic counsel on programmatic and organizational legal matters to executive leadership, staff, and the Boards of Directors of the Indivisible entities. The successful candidate will have the demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal counsel on mission-driven programmatic strategies and plans, while also overseeing the full range of organizational legal matters typical of a General Counsel role.

As a trusted strategic partner and organizational leader, the General Counsel advises on legal and regulatory matters, risk management, and governance; leads and manages the Legal Department and outside counsel; and ensures the delivery of high-quality legal services in the operation of the organization, including in the areas of contracts, employment, labor relations, and fundraising.

Indivisible is an organization leading a nationwide movement of millions of people working to stop the rise of authoritarianism in the United States and to demand a real democracy. We believe that politics is too important to leave up to the politicians – it requires all of us to get on the field.

We know that democracy only works when everyday people organize, show up, and hold those in power accountable. Indivisible was founded in 2016 by former congressional staffers who saw, from the inside, how grassroots pressure can shape political outcomes. What began as a practical guide for civic action quickly grew into a powerful, people-led movement.

Since our founding in 2016, Indivisible has been rooted in the belief that organized people can beat organized hate—and that our power comes not just from our numbers, but from how we show up. From the start, we’ve been committed to non-violence as a guiding principle in everything we do: our protests, our organizing, and our advocacy.
