South Coastal Counties Legal Services seeks a Unit Supervising Attorney, Justice Center of Southeastern Massachusetts who will lead a robust and dynamic legal services housing unit that is committed to ensuring that individuals and families throughout southeast Massachusetts have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. The Supervising Attorney will supervise a team of dedicated staff, maintain a small, strategic caseload, and develop and manage strategic initiatives across the unit.
The Justice Center of Southeast Massachusetts LLC (JCSM), is a subsidiary of SCCLS, the principal provider of free, civil legal aid to low-income residents of Southeastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod, and the Islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. SCCLS’s core mission is to achieve justice for eligible clients through community-based advocacy. The organization prioritizes legal services in housing, public benefits, elder law, domestic relations, employment, education, immigration, and consumer matters.
JCSM was organized in 2011 as a subsidiary of SCCLS and complements SCCLS’s efforts in providing access to critical legal support for its most vulnerable communities. JCSM serves individuals at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, along with victims of crime and individuals over the age of 60 without financial eligibility requirements. It is the largest of the SCCLS offices with 38 staff members.
