President & Chief Executive Officer
The Citadel Foundation - Charleston, SC
The Citadel Foundation seeks a President & Chief Executive Officer who will be responsible for all aspects of the operations of The Citadel Foundation, a charitable organization with over $300 million in assets and a current annual fundraising revenue goal of $52.5 million. The President & CEO will be responsible for strategic leadership, financial management, philanthropy, board management and key stakeholder relationships. Also, in coordination with the Foundation Board President and the President of The Citadel, they will develop and implement a wide-reaching fundraising program that meets the current and future funding needs of The Citadel (TC).
The President & CEO, with the approval of The Citadel’s President and the TCF Board, typically serves concurrently as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA). The President & CEO of TCF is a TCF employee and, as the VPIA, serves as The Citadel’s chief advancement officer. In that role, they will help ensure collaboration and coordination of solicitations and other activities among The Citadel’s four institutionally related foundations, helping ensure that outreach to donors, alumni, and other constituencies are coordinated and aligned with the mission and goals of The Citadel.
The Citadel Foundation, as it is known today, emerged from a campus-wide consolidation of fundraising responsibilities in 2000 and is now responsible for raising funds for all purposes except athletic scholarships, which remain primarily under the purview of The Citadel Brigadier Foundation. Donations to The Citadel Foundation go to a variety of programs including academic scholarships, faculty support, academic and athletic facilities, individual academic schools, program funds, and vital expenses not covered by tuition or fees.
The Citadel, with an iconic campus located in Charleston, South Carolina, offers a classic military college education for young men and women focused on leadership excellence and academic distinction. The Citadel is ranked as the Best Regional University in the South and has also been consecutively named Best Public University in the South by US News & World Report for 14 years and Best Public College for Veterans in the South for seven years.
