Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services
University of South Carolina - Columbia, SC
The University of South Carolina is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services (AVP) who will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for advancement services as an integrated enterprise system ensuring that data, technology, analytics, compliance, and prospect strategy operate cohesively to support fundraising success across the University of South Carolina. This role is responsible not only for overseeing core functions, but for aligning them in a way that enhances usability, strengthens partnership with fundraisers and campus stakeholders, and advances institutional priorities.
With thriving academic and research excellence and a welcoming student experience, the University of South Carolina brings the opportunities of higher education to new generations. USC's unrivaled college experience has been sought by students, faculty, and academic researchers for more than 200 years. The University of South Carolina System, led by President Michael Amiridis, who is serving as the university’s 30th President, has eight campuses in 20 locations that together serve more than 55,000 students. The Carnegie Foundation has recognized USC with top classification — R1 university — for “very high research activity.” In addition, USC is one of the few public universities that has also earned Elective Community Engagement Classification, a prestigious designation recognizing universities with strong community relationships.
"What makes this opportunity compelling to me is not just the scale of the work ahead, but the possibility of getting it right. We have a strong foundation, a committed team, and real momentum. At the same time, we are honest about where we need to evolve and improve.
The leader who will thrive is comfortable making decisions in complex environments and helping others navigate change with clarity and confidence. This is not a role for someone looking to optimize a single function; it is a role for someone who wants to lead through complexity, shape how an organization works, and contribute in a meaningful way to a campaign and an institution with significant ambition." — Debbie Williams, Chief Operating Officer
